Wednesday September 23 2015

Breakfast this morning was coffee from Good Eggs and apple cider donuts. We crossed over to Bailey's Harbor and stopped at the city beach for a minute. Then we drove back looking for the light house. We found out it is inaccessible by land, but drove back and checked out Tull's Point Nature Area. We came up on a coyote that hardly paid us any attention. Turning around we drove back to Bailey's Harbor and stopped at the Ridges Nature Center. We bought the boys bug bottles. Driving south through Baily’s Harbor, we kept an eye out for some fall color, but just saw bits. We cut back west across the peninsula and stopped at Door Peninsula Winery and Distillary. I tasted their single malt whiskey and had to have a bottle. I also picked up a bottle of brandy and some cherry butter for Mom. We tried several wines and I picked out a Pinot Noir, while Peg got a bottle of Sunset Splash and some flavored olive oil. We went across the highway to Door County Coffee and ate lunch. Heading back towards Ephraim we stopped at Orchard Country and picked up cider, maple syrup, dried cherries, cherry jam, and fudge. We went back to our room and hung out there and at the beach until time to go watch the sunset. I filled the car with gas on the way back to Peninsula State Park and then we went to the Sunset Trail parking lot and walked north along the marshy area to take some pictures.

The sky was overcast and I didn’t get what I was looking for, so we left early and drove back to the Summer Kitchen in North Ephraim. I had broiled whitefish, which tasted pretty good, but the soup and coffee was pretty underwhelming. Peg’s shrimp was overcooked, so all in all it was a disappointing meal. We went back to our room and called it a day.
