2014-09-16 Door County

61°/41° Sunny

Breakfast at White Gull Inn. Peg had Cherry-Cream Cheese stuffed french toast. I had Good Guy Hash, loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheese, topped with sour cream. After a short walk to the dock, we went to an orchard south of Egg Harbor. Afterwards we went to Harbor Ridge Winery and sampled several of their wines and cheeses. (Cherriosity, Carmens Last Dance, Knockin Heads Red, ?)

Leaving with our purchases we traveled to Door County Distillary and sampled their Brandy. I bought an apple brandy and a regular brandy. We took the short tour of the Peninsula Winery and picked up some wines and Fat Louies oil. (Sunset Splash, Harvest Moon, Chaos White, Chaos Red, Cherry Port, Reserve Port wine, Garlic Oil, Butter Oil)

Back to Egg Harbor for lunch at Shipwrecked. Their seafood chowder was recommended to us by a couple from Des Moine IA  that were staying at our hotel. It was awesome. I also had a turkey wrap and a cherry wheat beer. As much as I want to like the beer, I just haven’t found one I like.

Next to Peninsula State Park. The 8” of rain they had last week closed several of the bike trails. We went for a drive around the park, stopping at Nicholet Beach. On the way out we stopped at Eagle Overlook, Eagle Tower, and Eagle Terrace. The views were fantastic.

We went back to the hotel and hung out at the beach for a while. After dressing a little warmer, we went to Fred and Fuzzies for supper. I had a whitefish Rueben and a Wisconsin Amber. Peg had a whitefish filet sandwich and a cherry margarita. It was a little late in  the year to have a good view of the sunset from there, but the colors in the sky were great, and the tall ship (Edith?) from Sister Bay was sailing through the harbor.

We drove on in to Sister Bay to check out the remnants of the sunset from the public beach. The tall ship was making its way to the dock as we left to go back to our hotel. We ended up back in our room around 7:45.
