Off to Door County

Got away about 9:30.  Stopped at Cracker Barrel in Rockford about 12:30. After an hour for lunch, arrived at Mayfair Mall in Milwaukee at 2:50.  Decided to go to Bayport Mall and had an awesome burger and fries at Five Guys.  Checked into LaQuinta Inn and Suites.  Slept in Sunday morning and about missed our free breakfast.  Next stop, Sprecher Brewery where we picked up some pop and a few beers that I don’t see in Illinois.

Left Milwaukee around 12:30 and headed towards Manitowoc.  After looking around there a bit, we decided we’d like to stay in Green Bay and eat at Makinaw’s Grill. We stayed at the Super 8 next door and walked over to the restaurant where Peg had her usual cedar plank salmon, and I tried the elk stroganaff.  Really great meal.  After supper we went to a movie theatre near us and watched “Eat, Pray, Love”.

Another free breakfast Monday morning at the motel, and we hit the road about 10:00.  We made it to Sturgeon Bay and decided to go to WalMart to pick up a few things.  Planned on eating lunch at Applebees like we usually do, but the building was boarded up and had “for sale” signs outside, so decided to head on up.  Someone at Door County Coffee suggested eating at the Village Cafe in Egg Harbor.  We soon found  it and decided to add it to our list of places to stop again.

We checked in at Bay Breeze around 3:00 and got settled in.  After sitting on the beach for a while, we headed out to Wilsons for ice cream.  We had picked up snacks for the drive in and headed there about 6:40.  Watched “Decspicable Me” and “The Other Guys”.

Tuesday morning, (Peg’s Birthday), we had breakfast at the “Chef’s Hat”.  Drove north to Northport with a few stops along the way.IMG_0185
