Headed Home

After deciding not to extend our visit for a fourth day,  we packed up and headed out.  We got away about 9:00 and made a stop at Lautenbach’s just outside of Fish Creek.  We had decided not to go to a restaurant for breakfast, so picked up some donuts to eat on the way.  We loaded up with the usual cherry souvenirs, and hit the road about 9:25.  We got back to Sturgeon Bay about 10:05, after picking up some coffee at Door County Coffee in Carlsville.

I made the decision at the last second to stay on 43 to Green Bay instead of  turning off on 42.  I don’t know if it was any quicker, but we made good time, arriving at the north edge of Milwaukee (Glendale) about 12:05.  We stopped at Kopps for lunch based on the recommendation of the girl we talked to at Trader Joe’s on the way up.  The architecture is unique, and the tables are designed to stand at instead of sit.  While the fries and the frozen yogurt were good, the burgers were just so-so.

We started out again around 12:55.  We drove back to Galesburg, stopping once for gas at Rock Falls.  Peg went to the mall, while I headed out to Lowe’s. After getting some plumbing repairs, I picked her up and we ate at Applebee’s before going on home, arriving around 8:15.
